“Burmese cattle smuggling thrives via Tripura corridor”, BSF seizes 18 vehicles with 86 cattle

Agartala, May 28 (FD) The illicit smuggling of Burmese cattle from Myanmar to Bangladesh remains rampant, utilizing Tripura as a key transit route. In a recent incident, the Panisagar 105 battalion of the Border Security Force (BSF), aided by local villagers, successfully apprehended 18 vehicles loaded with cattle in the East Machli Shibbari area of the North district on Saturday night.
Upon detecting the movement of these vehicles, the vigilant BSF jawans initiated pursuit, resulting in the seizure of 18 vehicles containing 86 cattle. However, approximately 15 vehicles managed to evade capture and escape the scene.
Subsequently, the BSF jawans promptly handed over the confiscated cattle, along with the vehicles and 30 drivers and assistant drivers, to the Manu Police Station.
The authorities at the police station will now proceed with necessary investigations and legal actions. FD PD
