Agartala, Nov 4 (FD) Observing the miserable results of the students of the Vidyajyoti schools in Tripura.The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to open a sub-regional office in Agartala, official sources said on Monday.
Sources said, 61% of the students appearing this year’s Board Examinations in Class ten levels had passed, when in class twelve level only 59% could clear the tests.
There were 125 schools in the state which operated under the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE), but the BJP after coming to power reamed the schools as Vidyjyoti and converted in English Medium. This decision of the government witnessed fury of the opposition Congress and CPI-M earlier and they held the state government responsible for the poor results of the students.
Tripura government has decided to allocate lands for establishing a sub-regional office of the CBSE, but immediately office would be set-up in the premises of the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya here, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the state Education Department, Abhijit Samajpati told reporters.
He said, “The CBSE office will work in coordination of the state’s Education Department, other educational institutions and provide assistance like coordination between different Examination centers, process of admission, updating records of students, mark sheet corrections, grievance redressal and facilitation of teacher training,” Samajpati said.
Earlier, the Leader of the opposition, Jitendra Chowdhury said that the students, who studied in Bengali medium under the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE), were suddenly taken to English medium curriculum, which is the root cause for such dismal results. FD JK
