Agartala, Jun 25 (FD) To give more thrust to the ‘Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav’, a program to celebrate 75 years of the country’s independence, seventy-five border villages of Tripura’s eight districts will be renamed after the freedom fighters, who sacrificed their lives for country’s freedom struggle.
“This program would be started from next July and would be completed before the next Independence Day. We have prepared the list of the freedom fighters and a district level committee will identify the villages as early as possible”, Information and Cultural Affairs Secretary PK Chakraborty told reporters.
He said, Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha has held a high level meeting recently, which was attended by Chief Secretary J K Sinha and other senior officials to make the program successful and the central government has already sanctioned Rs 3.13 crore to implement the plan.
