Agartala, Aug 14 (FD) Tripura Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu on Friday inaugurated the North Eastern Students National Integration Movement (NESNIM) at Holy Cross School in Agartala, emphasising the crucial role of youth in shaping the future of Tripura and the nation.
Organised by the Holy Cross Educational Foundation, the NESNIM programme will continue till August 17, 2026. The initiative brings together students from different states of the Northeast to promote national integration, cultural understanding and harmony.
Addressing the gathering, Governor Indra Sena Reddy Nallu said the strength and progress of Tripura and the country depend significantly on the character, outlook and capabilities of young people. He said the programme at Holy Cross School reflects confidence in the younger generation and demonstrates that the future of the country is in safe hands.
The Governor described the young generation as the “future and power” of the nation and highlighted the importance of developing their talents while instilling strong values. He said the state government is working towards the overall development of youth and preparing them to face emerging challenges with confidence and responsibility.
Governor Nallu further noted that NESNIM, which began more than 25 years ago as a peace initiative, has evolved into a vibrant platform supporting the spirit of ‘Ek Bharat, Shresth Bharat’. The movement has helped connect students from different parts of the Northeast, enabling them to understand diverse cultures, languages and traditions while learning to live and grow together in harmony.
The welcome address was delivered by Father George Jackob, CSC, Secretary of the Holy Cross Educational Foundation, while President Father Abraham Kochupurakkal, CSC, also addressed the gathering. The vote of thanks was delivered by Father Jilson Tom, CSC, Principal of Holy Cross School, Agartala.
Students representing different Northeastern states presented a colourful cultural programme, showcasing the region’s rich and diverse cultural heritage. The performances added vibrancy to the event while reinforcing the message of unity in diversity and national integration. FD SB
