Agartala, July 22 (FD) In Tripura's Khowai district, a woman and her lover have been arrested for the murder of her husband. The body of 47-year-old Kinkar Debnath, a forest beat officer, was found on July 19 in the Karailong area, approximately 1.5 kilometers from his home.
Kinkar's family, suspecting foul play, lodged a complaint with the Teliamura police. Acting swiftly, the police scrutinized call records and other evidence, leading them to arrest Kinkar's wife, Purnima Debnath, and her lover, Amit Ghosh, a real estate developer.
The illicit affair between Purnima and Ghosh reportedly began when Kinkar hired Ghosh to renovate their home. The motive behind the murder was Kinkar's discovery of Purnima's affair with Amit, which threatened their illicit relationship. The two suspects were presented in Khowai court, where they were remanded to four days of police custody for further investigation.
Local residents and the family of the slain officer are demanding stringent punishment for the accused. Both Purnima and Ghosh have been charged with murder and are currently in police custody, with the court granting a four-day remand for further interrogation. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to gather evidence. FD SB
