Woman Allegedly Hacks Husband to Death, Surrenders to Police

Agartala, Apr 28 (FD) In a shocking incident that unfolded in Tripura's Gomati district, a woman has been accused of hacking her husband to death before voluntarily surrendering herself to the police at Birganj police station in Amarpur subdivision. The preliminary investigation indicates that the accused wife, identified as Kajal Kanya Jamatia (50), attacked her husband, Prem Guru Jamatia, with a chopper during a fit of rage, resulting in his untimely demise.

According to Uttam Banik, the in-charge SDPO of Amarpur, the tragic incident occurred on Thursday morning. After committing the crime, the accused promptly made her way to the Birganj police station, confessing to her actions. Law enforcement swiftly responded to the confession, dispatching a team to the crime scene where they recovered the murder weapon.

Local sources revealed that Prem Guru Jamatia had allegedly subjected his wife to torture while under the influence of alcohol. It was reported that his drinking habit intensified after the unfortunate deaths of their two daughters. Out of their five daughters, two were living with the couple along with their husbands, while another daughter resided in Ampi, South Tripura.

Sources further mentioned that the deceased husband had repeatedly accused his wife of engaging in an extramarital affair. However, no villagers have corroborated these allegations against the accused wife. On Thursday morning, a heated argument ensued between the couple, eventually escalating into the tragic and unprecedented incident.

The investigation is going on, with authorities conducting interviews with local residents and collecting evidence to ascertain the complete details surrounding the case. FD SB JK
