West Tripura Police seize 1.24 lakh Yaba Tablets, arrest two

Agartala, Jan 12 (FD) West Tripura district police on Sunday arrested two persons after seizing banned Yaba tablets from their possession at Battala here.
Acting on a tip-off, they searched a cement-laden truck and seized the contraband items from the cabin of the vehicle, arresting the driver and his assistant.
“We had specific information that the truck was carrying contraband items coming from Meghalaya. A team of police stopped the truck at Battala and during the search, they recovered 1,24,000 Yaba tablets kept inside the cabin. The truck was heading to Sonamura in Sepahijala district. The tablets are worth about one crore in the commercial market,” S.P. of West Tripura district, Kiran Kumar, told reporters.
He added that the contrabands, a mixture of methamphetamine and caffeine, commonly known as ‘crazy drugs,’ are banned in India.
The truck driver was identified as Jamal Hussain (44), and his assistant as Mintu Barman (29).
The S.P. stated that the arrested persons would be thoroughly interrogated to uncover the source and supply chain of the contrabands. FD JK
