West Bengal Governor reaches Murshidabad to interact with people amid Anti-Waqf Act Unrest

West Bengal Governor Dr C V Ananda Bose has reached Murshidabad. The Governor will interact with the people of Jafrabad of Samshergunj in Murshidabad district, who were affected by the recent violence over anti-Waqf Act protests.
Akashvani’s correspondent reports that the people of Samshergunj greeted the Governor with placards in their hands. Local people said they have no faith on state police and they are demanding central forces camps at their villages.
Meanwhile, a five-member team led by National Commission for Women chairperson Vijaya K Rahatkar visited the family of Hargobind Das and Chandan Das who were killed by an unruly mob on 12th of this month during protest against the Waqf Amendment Act in Samsherganj, Suti of Murshidabad district of West Bengal.
Earlier in the morning, the NCW team went to Ratanpur and Betbona villages of Samshergunj. The local villagers broke down after meeting the team. They requested for Central Armed Forces camps in the disturbed areas.
Dr Archana Majumdar, member of the NCW said that the Central government would be with the common people all the time. She assured the villagers about central forces’ help. A team of National Human Rights Commission left Malda for the violence hit areas of Murshidabad.
