Veteran Journalist Pradip Chakraborty Passes Away, Tripura Media Fraternity Mourns

Agartala, May 18 (FD) The journalistic fraternity of Tripura plunged into mourning on Monday following the demise of veteran journalist Pradip Chakraborty, a former senior member of the editorial team of leading Bengali daily Dainik Sambad. He was 74 and had been suffering from prolonged illness.
Pradip Chakraborty was widely regarded as one of the most respected figures in Tripura journalism and had dedicated decades of his life to public-interest reporting and socially responsible journalism. Throughout his career, he consistently highlighted the struggles and socio-economic issues faced by people living in rural and remote parts of the state.
Colleagues and senior journalists remembered him as a mentor and guide who played an important role in shaping generations of young reporters in Tripura. His commitment to grassroots journalism and editorial discipline earned him immense respect within the media community.
His demise comes after the passing of several other prominent journalists associated with Dainik Sambad, including former editor Bhupendra Chandra Datta Bhowmik, noted journalist Partha Deb, Pradip Datta Bhowmik and Gautam Kar Bhowmik. Many in the media fraternity described his death as the end of another important chapter in Tripura’s journalistic history.
Condolences poured in from journalists, editors, social organisations and well-wishers across the state, all remembering him as a committed newsperson and a compassionate human being. FD JK
