Veteran chess personality passes away

Agartala, April 8 (FD) Veteran sports personality, Prabodh Ranjan Dutta, who is the father sports journalist Kiriti Dutta passed away on Monday night.

He was 83 and breathed his last at 3:22 AM at the Tripura Medical College. He was suffering from old-age problems and was admitted to the hospital on April 2 last, family sources said.

His body was consigned to flames at the Battala burning ghat.

Dutta is called the doyen of chess game in the state and was the President of the Tripura Matrix Chess Academy.

Dutta is survived by his two sons – Kiriti and Prosenjit, who is also the coach of the Indian Chess team and a daughter. FD JK
