US President Donald Trump has said, a precarious ceasefire agreement between Israel and Hamas should be cancelled if Hamas doesn’t release all the remaining hostages it is holding in Gaza by midday on Saturday. He added that the decision would ultimately be up to Israel.
Trump made these comments after Hamas announced delays in releasing hostages, accusing Israel of breaking the three-week-old ceasefire. Trump also said Israel should demand the release of all hostages or restart the war. Mr. Trump was responding to Hamas, saying it will delay the further release of hostages in the Gaza Strip after accusing Israel of violating the three-week-old ceasefire.
Earlier, in an interview, Trump described his idea to take control of Gaza and turn it into “the Riviera of the Middle East.” He said Arab allies like Jordan and Egypt should take in Palestinians and suggested building “safe communities” away from the conflict. Trump called Gaza a “beautiful piece of land” and compared his plan to a real estate project.
Arab nations, including Jordan and Egypt, criticized the proposal. They warned it could harm efforts for a two-state solution and expressed security concerns about taking in more refugees.
