Agartala, Jan 3 (FD) A personnel of UPDF, an organization in Chittagong Hill Tracts of neighbouring Bangladesh fighting for autonomy of the Jummas including the Chakmas has died at Kichingcherra under Kattoli Union of Longadu Upazila at Rangamati district, according to intelligence sources.
Sources said that one personnel had died and three four personnel were injured following a gun battle between the Bangladesh army (jointly Rangamati sadar zone-11 Bir ,Naniarchar zone-10 Bir and Maini zone-03 Bir accompanied by UPDF-D) and UPDF-P) at around 5 AM yestrday.
Sources said, being informed, regarding the hideout of UPDF-P the concerned Bd armies raided and ambushed aiming the target at Kichingchara located close to the hide out. It's added that the UPDF-D provided the pin point location of UPDF-P being a part of this operation along with the armies.
It's reported that one armed cadre namely Saypa Mog.,S/O- Aungthwai Mog(,add- Manikchari,Khagrachari dist) was shot dead on the spot and 3/4 cadres were injured in the attack. One M4 rifle and a mag with some live rounds of 5.56 MM, uniforms,12 mobile phones and some usable stuff were recovered by the army as per the statement of security forces. In fact, the armies are not disclosing the fact of the incident and attempting to hide the factual information.
It's mentionable that there has been confrontation between the groups of D and P in taking control of the area and gaining strong support of the concerned Bd army authorities. Both parties have a desire to strengthen the tie up more with the connected Bd army with a view of eliminating each other. However, the D is afforded to earn the support of the concerned Bd army more than P in the area of incident. On the other hand, the involved Bd army has become much eager to achieve fame and promotion these days.
Moreover, being over confident in terms of co-operation with the Bd army & DGFI, the UPDF-P has become careless regarding its security. As the seniors of UPDF-P believe and depend on their policy that nothing such attack will be carried out by the armies upon them, because of maintaining a favourable interaction with the Bd army and Dr. Yunus led the interim govt. since the fall down of Sheikh Hasina's govt. Therefore, it might be an isolated incident, despite having a significant co-operation of the UPDF-P with some potential figures of the Bd army,DGFI, interim government of BD and the so-called student coordinators of non- discrimination movement.
