Agartala, June 29 (FD) Union Minister for Women and Child Development Annpurna Devi chaired a high-level review meeting on the implementation of welfare schemes under the Ministry of Women and Child Development in Agartala on Tuesday. The meeting, organized by the Social Welfare and Social Education Department of the Government of Tripura, focused on strengthening the delivery of welfare programmes for women and children across the state.
The review meeting was held at the auditorium of the State Guest House in the presence of Tripura's Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy. Also present were Child Rights Commission Chairman Jayanti Debbarma, State Commission Vice Chairperson Madhumita Chakraborty, Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Women and Child Development Ajit Kumar, Special Secretary of the Department Tapan Kumar Das, District Magistrates, Additional District Magistrates, and senior departmental officials.
During the meeting, officials reviewed the progress of several flagship schemes, including Saksham Anganwadi and Poshan 2.0, PM JANMAN, Mukhyamantri Pushti Upahar, Mukhyamantri Balika Samriddhi Yojana, Mukhyamantri Poshan Abhiyan, Mission Shakti Scheme, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mukhyamantri Kanya Bibah Yojana and Vatsalya Mission. Discussions also covered measures to prevent child marriage, improve nutrition, promote women's empowerment and ensure child protection.
Addressing the gathering, Union Minister Annpurna Devi said the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047 can only be achieved through collective commitment and effective implementation of welfare programmes. She emphasized that Anganwadi centres play a vital role in building a strong foundation for children's development and called for greater efforts to eliminate child marriage and drug abuse through awareness campaigns. The Minister also highlighted the Centre's initiative to create child marriage-free villages across the country and stressed that every eligible beneficiary should receive the benefits of government schemes.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Tinku Roy said the Tripura Government is implementing welfare programmes in accordance with the guidelines of the Central Government. He stated that awareness campaigns against child marriage, drug abuse and other social challenges are being conducted regularly. Roy reaffirmed the state's commitment to working closely with the Centre to ensure the successful implementation of welfare schemes and improve the lives of women and children throughout Tripura.
The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment from both the Central and State Governments to strengthen coordination, improve service delivery, and accelerate the implementation of social welfare initiatives aimed at ensuring inclusive development and social security for women and children. FD SB
