Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia addresses first technical session of Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav in New Delhi

Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Minister, Jyotiraditya Scindia today said the world’s geo-political order is shifting towards the Global South and North-East has the potential to be a key partner in its development.
Mr Scindia was addressing a panel discussion with Chief Ministers of Meghalaya, Sikkim and Tripura during the first technical session of Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav on the topic “Catalysing North East’s Progress for a Viksit Bharat” at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi.
The minister said that Centre is assisting to hone the specialties of each North-East state and present it to the world, ranging from tourism to agri-horticulture products.
He urged that for true development, the states need to view themselves as partners and collaborate more with the centre and each other.
He mentioned that with investor summits lined up in Tripura and New Delhi in the coming days along with roadshows in India and around the world, the region is poised for strengthened economic growth.
Meghalaya Chief Minister, Conrad Sangma said that the state has witnessed incredible growth, growing from around 7 percent in the past 6-7 years to almost 15 percent in recent years. He welcomed private investment but said that they must work in tandem with the local communities.
Talking exclusively to Akashwani News, Mr Sangma said that Ashtalakshmi Mahotsav will play a key facilitator in bringing all the stakeholders together.
