Agartala, Mar 8 (FD) Taking a jibe at the opposition political parties, Tripura Chi8ef Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that despite criticism by the opposition parties the state’s position in the unemployment index is better than that of the national average.
“The national average of unemployment is 3.2 percent, but the state’s share is only 1.7 percent. We also filled up 16,456 regular posts and also appointed many unemployed under contract basis”, Chief Minister claimed.
Saha on Saturday claimed that the law and order situation in the state has improved much, which is a big achievement of the BJP-Tipra Motha government.
Addressing an event to mark the second year of the BJP led government, he said the god law and order is the index of good governance and development ushered in the state as the law and order has improved.
He said, “The National Crime Report Bureau (NCRB) shows that law and order situation has improved significantly and the state now placed in the third position from the bottom among the 28 states in the country. It shows that the state’s law and order situation is quiet good”.
Last year the state has become free from insurgency following signing of an agreement with the banned All Tripura Tiger Force (ATTF) and National Liberation Front of Tripura (NLFT), Saha added.
He said, the state government was giving priority to the women in all sectors including the Panchayatiraj, who are showing their empowerment.
“In our state there are 53,623 Self Help Groups (SHGs) with 4.84 lakh members who are engaged under the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and 91,000 women have become ‘Lakhpati didis’, Saha said.
He also stated that the state’s per capita income has rose to Rs.1, 77,723 till January in 2024-25 from Rs. 1, 00,444 in 2017-18.
Saha also said that despite criticism by the opposition parties the state’s position in the unemployment index is better than that of the national average.
