Kailashahar, July 29 (FD) Food and Civil Supplies Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday chaired the first district-level administrative review meeting of Unakoti district as the district's Guardian Minister at the Kailashahar Circuit House (Dak Bungalow), reaffirming the state government's commitment to accelerating inclusive, transparent and people-centric development across the district.
Addressing the meeting, the Minister stressed that effective coordination between public representatives and the district administration is essential to ensure that government welfare schemes and development programmes reach every eligible citizen without delay. He said elected representatives serve as the bridge between the people and the administration, while government officials are responsible for delivering services efficiently. Any gap in coordination, he observed, could adversely affect developmental activities and public welfare.
Reviewing the progress of ongoing projects, the Minister held detailed discussions with senior administrative officials on key sectors including education, healthcare, agriculture, drinking water supply, road connectivity, electricity, public service delivery and infrastructure development. He directed officials to complete all public-oriented projects within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining the highest standards of transparency, accountability and quality.
Sushanta Chowdhury said the government's objective is to ensure that every resident of Unakoti benefits from the state's development initiatives. He highlighted the importance of bringing every family into the mainstream of development while creating new opportunities for employment, entrepreneurship and self-reliance, particularly for the youth. He reiterated the government's vision of transforming Unakoti into a modern, prosperous and opportunity-rich district.
The Minister also emphasised the district's immense potential in historical, religious and eco-tourism. Discussions were held on expanding tourism-based employment opportunities by improving transport connectivity and making travel within the district more convenient and efficient. He further underlined the need to strengthen the rural economy through the promotion of food processing industries that can add value to local agricultural produce and other indigenous products.
During the meeting, representatives of various government departments presented updates on the status of ongoing projects, achievements, implementation challenges and future plans. Public representatives also shared their observations and suggestions on developmental priorities in different parts of the district.
The Minister informed that a comprehensive report on the development activities of all departments would be prepared and submitted to Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha. Future action plans would be formulated based on the specific needs and priorities of individual districts. He announced that such district-level review meetings would now be held regularly, with each meeting evaluating the implementation status of previous decisions to ensure continuous monitoring and timely corrective measures.
He also revealed that a district-level beneficiaries' conference will be organised in the coming days, where the Chief Minister is expected to interact with beneficiaries of various government schemes. Referring to the state's achievements, the Minister noted significant progress in self-help groups (SHGs), social pension distribution, agriculture, education and healthcare under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha.
The review meeting was attended by Unakoti Zila Parishad Sabhadhipati Amalendu Das, MDCs Dhirendra Debbarma and Ratish Tripura, Kailashahar Municipal Council Chairperson Chapala Debroy, Kumarghat Municipal Council Chairperson Biswajit Das, Chandipur Panchayat Samiti Chairman Sampa Das Paul, District Magistrate Megha Jain, Superintendent of Police Rishav, Transport Commissioner Subrata Chowdhury, ADM Arghya Saha, Kumarghat SDM N.S. Chakma, Block Development Officers and senior officials from various government departments. The meeting concluded with a renewed commitment to ensuring that the benefits of development reach every household in Unakoti through coordinated governance and effective implementation of government programmes.
