'Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia': Joe Biden in Poland

Warsaw/IBNS: US President Joe Biden Tuesday said Ukraine would never be a victory for Russia as he delivered a speech in Poland ahead of the first anniversary of Moscows invasion.

A dictator bent on rebuilding an empire will never be able to ease the peoples love of liberty, brutality will never grind down the will of the free, he said during an address in Warsaw.

Ukraine will never be a victory for Russia -- never, Biden told the crowd outside the Royal Castle.

Speaking a day after his surprise trip to the Ukrainian capital, Biden said: Kyiv stands strong, Kyiv stands proud, it stands tall and most importantly it stands free.

On Monday, Biden made a surprise visit to Kyiv to meet with President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and reaffirm the US unwavering and unflagging commitment to Ukraines democracy, sovereignty, and territorial integrity.

When (Vladimir) Putin launched his invasion nearly one year ago, he thought Ukraine was weak and the West was divided. He thought he could outlast us. But he was dead wrong, he had said.

Biden said that later this week, he will announce additional sanctions against elites and companies that are trying to evade or backfill Russias war machine.

Over the last year, the United States has built a coalition of nations from the Atlantic to the Pacific to help defend Ukraine with unprecedented military, economic, and humanitarian support and that support will endure.
