Ukraine President Zelensky offers to sign aborted mineral deal with US

Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky has expressed his readiness to sign the aborted mineral deal with the United States. This follows British Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s announcement of a “Coalition of the Willing” to support Ukraine.

However, U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has suggested a peace deal with Russia must come first. It remains unclear if the US will proceed with the agreement.

Meanwhile, Britain and France are working on a ceasefire plan. They propose a one-month truce as a step toward lasting peace. Both countries have also offered to send peacekeeping troops to Ukraine. At a summit, European leaders pledged stronger support for Ukraine. NATO’s Secretary General urged higher defence spending.

Tensions between Ukraine and Washington were clear after a tense Oval Office meeting with President Trump but no deal was signed.
