U19WC: India women begin title defence with 9-wicket win over West Indies

In the second edition of ICC Under 19 Women’s Cricket T20 World Cup, defending champions India began their title defence with a commanding 9-wicket win over the West Indies at Bayeumas Oval, Kuala Lumpur. After bowling out the West Indies for just 44, India chased the target in just 4.2 overs.
Joshitha VJ struck early, taking two quick wickets, while spinners Aayushi Shukla and Parunika Sisodia dismantled the batting lineup. Indian fielders contributed with three run-outs. Despite losing G Trisha early, Kamalini G and Sanika Chalke ensured a smooth chase. India now tops Group A with two points and a Net Run Rate of +8.646.
In the other Group A fixture, Sri Lanka thrashed hosts Malaysia by 139 runs, led by stellar performances from Chamudi Praboda and Dahami Sanethma.
