Two police officials attempted to crush a journalist in Khowai district

Agartala, Jul 23 (FD) Tripura Working Journalist Association (TWJA) has strongly protested against the alleged despicable attempt by two police personnel to ram over a journalist by an one tonner vehicle at Gopal Nagar area under Kalyanpur police station in Khowai district on Monday last.

Sajal Deb, a reporter of Syandan Patrika and one of his colleagues rushed to the area on receipt of the information that one SPO jawan and one driver of the officer-in-charge of Teliamura police station had gone to a village to sell fuel from a government vehicle.

Deb had gone there to cover the incident of theft and spoke to many villagers, when the duo tried to ram over Sajal Deb. However, he survived with the help of the local people, who also informed the Kalyanpur police station about the incident.

A team of police from Kalyanpur police station rushed to the spot and recovered illegally sold fuel and took the culprits in custody.

TWJA has demanded exemplary punishment of the guilty police personnel. FD JK
