Two drug peddlers arrested at Agartala station with ₹8.3 lakh

Agartala, Jan 11 (FD) Two more drug peddlers, including a woman were arrested from the Agartala railway station and seized Rs. eight lakh thirty thousand from their possession, police said today.
“They would be placed before a local court for police remand today. The male was identified as Mehedi Hassan Nazmul (20) and the woman was Sahena Akhtar (30). We have also seized Rs. eight lakh thirty thousand from their possession”, Officer-in-charge of the Agartala Government Railway Police station, Tapas Das said.
He said that more such people are likely to be arrested in this connection after they are sent in police remand.
The Government Railway Police (GRP) in Tripura has arrested 35 Indian touts from different parts of state for helping Bangladeshis including the Rohingyas to enter in India, official sources of GRPF said.
Earlier on Monday last, the GRP and BSF conducted a raid at Konaban in Sipahijala district and managed to arrest five touts and human traffickers.
The GRP, a proactive force also arrested 115 Bangladeshis and Rohingyas only from the Agartala rail station since August 1.
A large number of human traffickers were also arrested by BSF and Tripura police from different parts of the state, sources said.
In last five months, sources said that at least 600 Bangladeshi nationals and at least 63 Rohingya Muslims were arrested.
Sources in the BSF said that they had sharpened their vigil along the 856 KM long border in Tripura after August 5 last and managed to nab many infiltrators including Rohingyas. FD JK
