Two drug peddler arrested along with worth 13.8 crore

Agartala, June 29 (FD) Tripura police on Thursday seized 3.46 kg heroin worth Rs 13.8 crore and nabbed two drug peddlers from Ambassa in Dhalai district, about 80 km from here, police said.
Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) of Ambassa , Suman Majumder said, acting on a tip-off police stopped a jeep (Thar) at the Naka point and recovered the drugs and arrested the peddlers.
“We recovered the narcotics hidden inside the jeep in cloth bag. The two peddlers were identified as Mahabul Alam and Piklu Bhowmik. They were arrested and a case was registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985 at Ambassa police station”, Majumder told reporters.
Preliminary investigation revealed that, the drug was mainly headed for Bangladesh but a portion of it was also supposed to be sold in Tripura market. FD JK
