Agartala, July 7 (FD) The Tripura Tea Development Corporation (TTDC) is set to secure proposed investments worth ₹726 crore through the signing of four Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) during the Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026, marking the largest proposed investment initiative in the history of the state's tea sector.
Announcing the development, TTDC Chairman Samir Ranjan Ghosh said the proposed investments are expected to transform Tripura's tea industry by promoting modernization, value addition, tea tourism, export potential and large-scale employment generation.
The two-day Destination Tripura Business Conclave 2026 will be held on July 9 and 10.
According to Ghosh, four investors have confirmed their participation in the business conclave and are expected to formalize investment proposals across various segments of the tea industry.
Monoworld Recycling Private Ltd. has proposed an investment of ₹100 crore for projects in the tea sector, while Itibachak Barta Foundation has committed another ₹100 crore for modernization of tea gardens and factories, development of Small Tea Grower (STG) clusters, research and skill development, adoption of digital technologies, branding, marketing and promotion of tea tourism.
Meanwhile, Infidirect Tech Solutions Private Ltd. has proposed an investment of ₹26 crore to operate existing and new TTDC tea estates under lease or Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models, besides establishing tea blending and packaging units.
The largest proposed investment comes from NDR Infrastructure Pvt. Ltd., which plans to invest ₹500 crore in developing integrated world-class tea estates, MSME-based tea processing units, value-addition facilities and an export facilitation hub in Tripura.
The TTDC Chairman said the four MoUs are expected to be signed during the two-day conclave, paving the way for a wide range of projects, including organic tea plantations under the PPP model, leasing of TTDC-managed tea estates, blending and packaging units, production and marketing of premium value-added tea varieties such as white tea, green tea and rose tea, establishment of tea eco-tourism destinations and a tea museum, catechin extraction plants, and several other collaborative initiatives aimed at strengthening the state's tea economy.
Expressing optimism over the proposed investments, Ghosh said the initiatives would significantly enhance Tripura's tea industry by improving infrastructure, expanding export opportunities, generating employment and positioning the state as a leading destination for tea production, processing, value-added products and tea-based tourism.
