TSR to be deployed in law and order duties in urban areas in the state

Agartala, Dec 1 (FD) An elite paramilitary, Tripura State Rifles (TSR), which was raised during the height of insurgency three decades ago in the state and mostly deployed in the rural and hilly areas now, would be deployed in the urban areas for maintaining law and order, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said today.
“TSR is one of the most decorated paramilitary, which has proved its worth wherever it was deployed, be it insurgency or border guarding or embassies in Delhi. Now this force would be utilized in maintaining law and order situation in urban areas”, the Chief Minister, who is also the home minister of the state said at the passing out parade of 14th and 15th Bn TSR here.
A top police official said the TSR played the major role in combating decades old insurgency in the state, which also proved its worth when deployed in different states during conflict situation or election duties.
“Our proud TSR force is working with reputation at the national level as well as the state. We are committed to make this force stronger. To this aim, training of the newly-appointed forces of TSR 14 and 15 was completed in four centers. I am overwhelmed with the wonderful parade of the newcomers”, Saha said in a social media post.
Director General of Police Amitabh Ranjan said all the 1,438 passed-out TSR jawans were given rigorous training under the guidance of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) and this combat force is capable of doing any assignment. FD JK
