TSF opposes Five-Star Hotel Plan, Demands Preservation of Tripura’s Iconic Puspabanta Palace Heritage

Agartala, Dec 4 (FD) Twipra Student Federation (TSF) on Wednesday submitted a memorandum to the Governor of Tripura, Nallu Indra Sena Reddy demanding not to convert the Puspabant palace into a five-star hotel.
A delegation of TSF led by its General Secretary, Hamalu Debbarma met the Governor and put forward their demands not to handover the Puspabanta palace, a iconic building of the Tripura’s Manikya kings and to maintain its statuesque.
“When we came to know that government has made a plan to convert the palace into a hotel by Taj group we protested. Today we have submitted a memorandum to the Governor so that the government cannot convert Puspabant palace into a five-star hotel”, Hamalu Jamatiya, the general secretary of TSF told reporters.
He said the building deals with the heritage and history of the state and people should protect it.
“We are not against developments. It can house a museum or a library. When people’s sentiment is involved with this building, it can remain as it is”, Jamatiya said.
He also said that the governor has assured to take-up the matter with the state government. FD JK
