TSF blocks the front gate of TBSE
By Firstdespatch Desk Nov 30, 2024
Agartala, Nov 30 (FD) Twipra Student Federation (TSF) has locked the front gate of the Tripura Board of Secondary Education (TBSE), when the board president had declined to take ‘Kokborok’ language exam in Madhyamik and HS exam of the TBSE in Roman script.
A similar trouble had broken out last year also during the TBSE exams.
TBSE sources said, a delegation of about 200 students met the president of the TBSE and demanded the Twipra students be allowed for exams in Madhyamik HS (+2) be taken in Roman script.
When, the president of TBSE Dhananjay Gan Chowdhury told the TSF President that it would not be possible to take the ‘Kokborok’ language exams in Roman script as it would require lot of changes.
They also pointed out that the demand had been raised since the year 2022 but a definite policy announcement on this is yet to be made.
Enraged by this the TSF delegation came out and locked up the main gate of the TBSE office before departure. As a result all the employees and officers of TBSE had to remain confined to the office for a long time. The Board president had however managed to sneak out of the office through a backdoor and the employees were able to come out after several hours following the reopening of the gate.
Speaking to media persons TSF leader Manish Debbarma said that they had demonstrated in front of the TBSE office for sometime on their demand because the Board president had told them that the upcoming exams of TBSE on ‘Kokborok’ will be taken in Bengali script.
“We want the state government decides to concede our demands or we would continue to launch our movement. We want peace and harmony but if our demand is not met the government will be responsible for all these things”, he said. FD JK
