Agartala, Sep 22 (FD) Tripura State Electricity Corporation Ltd (TSECL) launched several safety awareness campaign for its consumers to avoid hazards, officials said on Thursday.
The campaign was launched by the Safety Cell of TSECL, led by of deputy general manager Rajin Kumar Roy and guided by the managing director Debashis Sarkar.
The sites for campaign are namely Teliamura, Ranirbazar, Charilam, Champaknagar, Bishalgarh, Khayerpur, Madhupur and Bishramganj. By December 2022, this kind of campaigns will be organized in the remaining areas of Tripura.
Initiatives such as safety stickers have been pasted on distribution transformer poles in office tilla, bishramganj PHC, Bishalgarh, Champaknagar bazaar, charilam bazaar and bishramganj bazaar along with ‘Electric Shock And Treatment Calendars’ pasted in every call centers, sub divisions, sub stations and division offices to raise awareness among field employees of TSECL. Existing fire extinguishers are refilled, which has already been proved useful in saving a distribution transformer (DT) in front of TSECL corporate office. Inspections are being done on the status of earthing in DTs of various ESDs in order to minimize the damage of DTs.
Retired senior manager of Revenue & Disaster Management in Calcutta Electric Supply Corporation Ltd. Asoke Chakraborty gave online training on ‘Safety in Power Distribution System’ to 250 senior managers and managers to generate awareness on electrical safety among field employees.
Training on safety precautions will be given by National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC officers to 250 engineers and field staff in 3 to 4 phases.
Operation and Maintenance staff will be provided with Safety PPE, hand gloves, discharge rods, helmets, safety belts, insulated mats, safety shoes and raincoats.
As for the safety of consumers, the safety cell of TSECL will publish a list of Do’s and Don’ts in safe electrical handling by March 2023. FD DM JK
