Agartala, June 28 (FD) The Tripura State Co-operative Bank (TSCB) achieved a historic milestone during the financial year 2025-26 by registering its highest-ever annual profit, recording a remarkable 103 per cent growth in net earnings and declaring its first-ever dividend for shareholders. The bank also handed over a dividend cheque of Rs.16.83 lakh to the Government of Tripura during its 43rd Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at Nazrul Kalakshetra in Agartala on Saturday.
Tripura Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy inaugurated the AGM and received the dividend cheque on behalf of the State Government. Cooperation Minister Shukla Charan Noatia also attended the programme as the guest of honour. The meeting was attended by TSCB Chairman Nagadhiraj Datta, Managing Director Bhajan Chandra Roy, directors, shareholders, cooperative representatives and senior officials.
Presenting the annual report, the bank announced a record net profit of Rs.78.08 crore for 2025-26, compared with Rs.38.08 crore in the previous financial year, marking an unprecedented 103 per cent increase.
The bank also reported steady business growth, with its total business volume rising to Rs.6,950.92 crore, an increase of Rs.289.11 crore or 4.34 per cent over the previous year. Total deposits stood at Rs.4,187.51 crore, while advances reached Rs.2,763.41 crore, reaffirming the bank's significant contribution to financing agriculture, rural development, cooperative institutions, self-help groups, small businesses and individual borrowers across Tripura.
A major highlight of the AGM was the declaration of the first-ever dividend for Class A, B and C shareholders since the bank's inception. The distribution of a dividend cheque worth Rs.16.83 lakh to the State Government reflected the bank's strengthened financial position and enhanced returns to its stakeholders.
The annual report, however, noted that the bank's Credit-Deposit (CD) Ratio declined from 69.41 per cent in 2024-25 to 65.99 per cent in 2025-26. While the bank maintained that its CD ratio remains higher than that of many cooperative banks across the country, it acknowledged the need to further expand productive lending to support economic growth and employment generation.
TSCB's financial indicators remained robust. Its Capital to Risk-weighted Assets Ratio (CRAR) stood at 29.61 per cent, well above the regulatory requirement, reflecting a strong capital base. The Net Interest Margin (NIM) was recorded at 3.87 per cent, indicating healthy earnings from lending operations.
The bank also registered notable improvements in operational efficiency. Business per branch increased to Rs.110.35 crore, profit per branch rose to Rs.2.64 crore, while business per employee reached Rs.16.02 crore, highlighting better productivity and effective resource utilisation across its branch network.
Addressing the gathering, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy said cooperative institutions continue to play a pivotal role in Tripura's socio-economic development by providing affordable institutional credit to farmers, rural artisans, self-help groups, small entrepreneurs and economically weaker sections.
He said the State Government remains committed to strengthening the cooperative movement and expanding its role in achieving inclusive and sustainable economic growth. Describing cooperative banking as a key pillar of rural development, the Minister urged TSCB to further modernise its services and expand credit support to productive sectors.
During the programme, the Finance Minister also launched the bank's Apple m-Banking application, enabling mobile banking services for Apple device users, and inaugurated a new ATM counter at the Vikramnagar Branch as part of TSCB's ongoing digital banking expansion.
Chairman Nagadhiraj Datta and Managing Director Bhajan Chandra Roy attributed the bank's record performance to prudent financial management, improved loan recovery, growing customer confidence and the dedicated efforts of its employees.
With record profitability, its first-ever dividend declaration, sustained business growth, strong capital adequacy and continued digital expansion, the Tripura State Co-operative Bank has further strengthened its position as one of the state's leading financial institutions while setting the stage for greater support to Tripura's rural and cooperative economy.
