Tripura’s three villages get ‘National Panchayat Award-2023’ for clean, green environment

Agartala, Jun 4 (FD) Another feather was added to the cap of Tripura when three villages of the state were announced to receive the ‘National Panchayat Award-2023’ for cleanliness and green environment, an official press release said on Saturday.
Darchwi ADC Village of Kumarghat Block in Unakoti district, Mohinipur Gram Panchayat of West District and Vanghmun Village of North District will be awarded National Panchayat Award-2023 for clean and green environment on World Environment Day at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi.
The Ministry of Environment, Forests and Climate Change has selected the Village for this award by surveying 100 Panchayats of the country based on 10 online questionnaires.
Among the 10 online questionnaires, the prominent issues were Open Defecation Free (ODF) village, visually clean village, waste management of village, schools, markets, anganwadi centres and public places, illumination of village area through solar lights, construction of two Amrit Sarovar in the village for clean environment, pollution free and Forestry for a clean environment, inclusion of all the beneficiaries of the village under Ujjawala Yojana to create a pollution free environment etc., BDO of the Block Dr. Sudip Bhowmik informed media.
Besides, Bagman village of South District will be awarded for being carbon neutral village.
The awards will be presented at Vigyan Bhavan in Delhi on the occasion of World Environment Day-2023 on June 5. FD
