Agartala, July 1 (FD) Tripura's ambitious International Cricket Stadium at Narsingarh is entering its final phase of construction, with the landmark project expected to be substantially completed by October 2026. Once operational, the venue is expected to position the state on India's cricketing map, with authorities hopeful of hosting prestigious domestic and international tournaments, including Indian Premier League (IPL) matches, subject to regulatory approvals.
Upon completion, the Narsingarh stadium will become the second international-standard cricket venue in Northeast India after Assam, significantly strengthening the region's sports infrastructure.
According to Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) Secretary Subrata Dey, the Construction of International Cricket Stadium at Narsingarh, Agartala project is being executed by Ram Kripal Singh Construction Pvt. Ltd. at an estimated cost of Rs 185.13 crore.
Dey said that as of June 30, 2026, construction work valued at nearly Rs 178 crore had been completed, including the cost of materials supplied to the project site. Earlier progress reports indicated that by July 31, 2025, works worth Rs 151 crore had been executed, comprising Rs 114 crore in completed civil works and Rs 37 crore worth of materials procured for critical installations such as lifts, centralised air-conditioning, floodlighting, fire-fighting systems and electrical infrastructure.
Since July 2025, an additional Rs 27 crore worth of work has been completed, leaving only about Rs 7 crore worth of construction in the final phase. Officials said the remaining materials have already been procured and specialised agencies have been engaged to complete the balance work.
The final stages of construction include installation of the Integrated Building Management System (IBMS), centralised air-conditioning, roofing over the main pavilion, media pavilion and television production areas, aluminium composite panel (ACP) cladding, false ceiling works and fire-fighting systems.
The floodlighting infrastructure has also recorded substantial progress. Foundations for all six high-mast floodlight towers have been completed, lighting equipment has reached the site, and the steel tower structures are ready for erection.
According to the revised construction schedule, the general stand gallery and Premium Seating-II are expected to be completed by June 20, 2026, while the media pavilion and television production block are targeted for completion by July 20, 2026. The remaining works are scheduled to conclude by August 31, 2026, although final finishing, testing and commissioning are expected to continue until October 2026.
Officials expressed confidence that once the stadium receives the required certifications and complies with the standards prescribed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and international governing bodies, it will be eligible to host major domestic tournaments and international fixtures, including potential IPL matches.
TCA Secretary Subrata Dey said timely completion of the remaining works and commissioning of all critical systems would be essential to transform the Narsingarh facility into a world-class cricket stadium, providing a major boost to Tripura's sporting infrastructure and creating new opportunities for the promotion of cricket in the state.
