Tripura's Budget Aims for Tourism Growth and Socio-Economic Development

Agartala, Mar 28 (FD) Tripura is gearing up to establish itself as a major tourist destination within the next two years. During the general discussion on the 2025-26 state budget in the Legislative Assembly, Tourism Minister Sushanta Chowdhury emphasized the government's long-term vision for development.
The budget prioritizes various sectors, including education, healthcare, agriculture, tribal welfare, and tourism expansion. He highlighted ongoing efforts to enhance the education system, strengthen rural healthcare, and support farmers through initiatives like the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi and paddy procurement at support prices.
Minister for Scheduled Caste Welfare Sudhanshu Das discussed measures to improve animal health services. The government has allocated ₹4.5 crore for 55 new mini mobile veterinary units and ₹2 crore for a dairy production project in Bamutiya. The Chief Minister’s Livestock Farmers’ Honor Fund has already provided ₹6,000 to 5,000 farmers, encouraging livestock farming.
The budget also emphasizes socio-economic upliftment, particularly for women and underprivileged communities. Various rural development projects are being implemented to promote financial independence and improve living standards.
The government remains committed to Tripura’s overall progress, aligning with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for a developed India. The state is witnessing growth in GDP and per capita income, marking steady progress toward self-reliance. The Minister stated that opposing this budget means opposing the aspirations of Tripura’s people.
