Tripura's AGMC gets NMC approval to increase MBBS seats to 150

Agartala, Jun 29 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Saturday said that the National Medical Commission (NMC) has granted approval for Agartala Government Medical College to increase its MBBS intake capacity from 100 to 150 seats.
Saha, who himself is a prominent doctor and formerly a professor of a medical college here in a social media post said, “ This is a significant accomplishment, as it will provide more opportunities for aspiring medical students from our state to pursue their dream of becoming a doctor”.
This expansion of seats is expected to enhance access to healthcare services in the future, he said. “Our Government is committed to leaving no stone unturned in its efforts to improve the healthcare sector in the State”, he added.
Saha recently visited Delhi and requested Union Health and Family Welfare Minister JP Nadda to set up an AIIMS-like institute in Dhalai district.
When the AGMC is a government medical college, there is another medical college run by a society. FD JK
