Gokulnagar, Aug 29 (FD) Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Sunday celebrated Rakhi Utsav with women police and Tripura State Rifles (TSR) personnel at the TSR 1st Battalion ground in Gokulnagar, Sepahijala, and highlighted the growing achievements of women across the state.
In his address while inaugurating the Rakhi Bandhan Festival, Chief Minister Saha said Rakhi Bandhan is a sacred festival that symbolises emotions such as love, compassion, fraternity and mutual respect. He said the occasion also strengthens the bonds of unity and brotherhood in society.
The Chief Minister noted that women from Tripura are increasingly earning recognition for their talents and achievements in different fields. Referring to the recent outstanding performance of the state’s “golden girl” Asmita Dey at the Commonwealth Games, he said her success was an example of the growing recognition of women from Tripura.
Saha said the state government has undertaken several initiatives aimed at women’s development and safety. He emphasised that ensuring the safety of women remains a priority for the government. According to him, nine women police stations have already been opened across eight districts of Tripura.
The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of women’s overall well-being, saying physical fitness alone is not sufficient and that mental fitness must also receive proper attention.
During the celebration, police officers and personnel from different ranks tied Rakhis on the Chief Minister’s wrist. Saha also extended warm wishes to the women police and TSR personnel, praising their courage, dedication and service to society.
DGP-in-charge G.S. Rao delivered the welcome address. IG (Law and Order) Ipper Manchak, IG (Intelligence and Security) Krishnendu Chakraborty, IG Prabir Majumder, DIG Police Headquarters Jal Singh Meena, DIG (Crime) Sanjay Roy, Sepahijala District Magistrate Dr. Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, SP Bijoy Debbarma and Bishalgarh SDM Binki Saha were among those present.
