Agartala, Oct 26 (FD) Police on Wednesday arrested two persons in connection with an incident of shootout from near the MBB airport here and placed before a local court for police remand, SDPO (Sadar) Ajoy Das said.
Police also seized two vehicles used in the crime.
The detainees were identified as- Prabhakar Ghosh (40) and Santosh Das (35), both are residents of Usha Bazar area under Airport police station.
Both the accused were produced before court on Wednesday seeking five days police remand, Das added.
The SDPO Sadar said, “In connection with the shooting incident a case was registered bearing Case no. 2022WAG169 U/S- 326/307/34 IPC & 27(2) of Arms Act”. The FIR was registered against five suspected accused, he added.
SDPO said, prima-facie of the investigation, it was revealed that the incident was the fall out of a factional feud between two contractor groups over the negotiation of business.
Das said, the two injured were identified as Sanjay Das and Haripad Das, residents of Nutannagar area of the locality.
The bullet hit Sanjoy on his waist and Haripada got injuries on his hand and leg when miscreants opened at least four rounds of bullet, Das said.
Both the injured persons along with four others were having fast food in front of the Sonar Bangla restaurant outlets near the road in an open space.
Suddenly two vehicles stopped near them on the road and latter one miscreant opened indiscriminately firing from small arms through the window and then fled away towards the airport.
Before the police arrived, the locals rescued them and sent them to a hospital.
The CPWD works mainly operated from the locality through local club but, recently both the injured have reportedly managed huge contracts bypassing the club authority.
