Tripura: Two children drowned in Sarma river found dead

Gandacherra, Apr 9 (FD) Bodies of the two children who went missing after drowning in Sarma river while collecting vegetables were recovered on Sunday, police official said.
The incident was reported from Natun Brishaketu area of Nakkacherra ADC village under Gandacherra police station.
It is learnt that Shanti Mala Chakma(12) and her cousin Sima Chakma (7) went to Sarma river to collect vegetables from the river bank on Saturday.
At some point, they crossed the river. On the way back home after collecting vegetables from there, Shanti first brought buckets of vegetables to the other side of the river.
Then she again went across the river to bring Sima backĀ and both drowned in the river while crossing.
Another child who witnessed the incident informed the family members of the children. The villager started searching for the children but could not find any track them. Later, the fire tenders from nearby centre and police rushed to the spot and launched a search operation but failed to trace them till Saturday evening.
Meanwhile on Sunday morning, local people, police and NDRF personnel managed to recover the bodies from the river.
When the bodies were brought to a local hospital, the attending doctor declared both the children brought dead. FD PD
