Agartala, Nov 16 (FD) Tripura transport minister, Sushanta Chowdhury today expressed his concern over the rising trends of airfare and stated that despite state government’s concerted efforts the trend continued.
“We are in constant touch with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA), who consistently monitors airfare trends. But despite our effort, the trend continues”, he told reporters at the civil secretariat.
Chowdhury pointed out that according to the existing civil aviation rules, airfares are based on demand and supply under existing civil aviation rules. In case of emergency booking high rates are charged, while 60% of seats are offered at base rates, he said.
However, the transport minister assured that his efforts to ease the problem would continue. FD JK
