Agartala, June 1 (FD) completion of a full-fledged Auxiliary Nurse and Midwifery (ANM) School building at Durjoynagar in Agartala, which is expected to be ready within the next two months, Health Secretary Kiran Gitte said on Monday.
Gitte, accompanied by senior officials of the Health Department, inspected the newly constructed facility to review preparations for its upcoming inauguration.
Speaking to reporters after the inspection, the Health Secretary said the state government is developing a comprehensive nursing education campus in line with the vision of Chief Minister Manik Saha to enhance healthcare training and human resource development.
"We visited the site to assess the preparedness for the inauguration of the ANM School building. The Public Works Department has already completed the construction work. Considering the increasing patient load at IGM Hospital and the growing demand for trained healthcare professionals, the government has established an integrated nursing campus here," Gitte said.
He informed that the new facility will accommodate both nursing institutes currently functioning in Agartala, including the Agartala Government Nursing College and the diploma-level nursing institute. In addition, a dedicated nursing training school will also operate from the campus.
The Health Secretary said hostel facilities will be developed within the campus and there is adequate scope for future expansion. Once inaugurated, the institutions will gradually be shifted to the new premises.
"The building will be ready for full operational use within the next two months. As the demand for quality healthcare services continues to rise, the government is placing special emphasis on strengthening health education and nursing training infrastructure," Gitte added.
The upcoming campus is expected to significantly boost nursing education capacity in the state and support Tripura's efforts to improve healthcare delivery through a skilled workforce. FD JK
