Agartala, June 02 (FD) A shocking incident unfolded in South Tripura as a minor girl was allegedly gang-raped and thrown out of a moving car, according to the police.
The 17-year-old victim had reportedly befriended a 21-year-old named Suhel Miah on Facebook, who, along with two accomplices, allegedly raped her at the Tepania Eco Park on Wednesday. While Suhel has been detained, the other two suspects are still at large.
The victim, in an attempt to escape the situation, found herself trapped when the main accused, against her objections, clicked photographs of her and blackmailed her. Following the incident, activists from the Hindu Jagaran Mancha staged a protest, demanding the immediate arrest of all those involved.
The victim narrated her harrowing ordeal to her family upon her return home, prompting them to file a specific First Information Report (FIR) at the R. K. Pur women's police station. The girl was found abandoned near the Rajarbag motor stand area.
The victim's grandfather alleged that his granddaughter had fallen into a trap set by a group of Muslim youths. He claimed that the main accused had concealed his identity, presenting himself as a Hindu while convincing the girl to meet at the Tepania Eco Park. However, when the victim discovered their true identity and tried to leave, she was threatened and subjected to the heinous crime.
Authorities are intensifying efforts to apprehend the remaining suspects as the investigation into the case continues. FD SB
