Agartala, Aug 29 (FD) Four young students from Tripura celebrated Raksha Bandhan with President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi on Friday, making the occasion a memorable experience for the students and a proud moment for the state.
The students—Meheresiya Sarkar of Class V and Amit Kumar Sarkar, Rike Deb and Pratik Sarkar of Class VI—from Netaji Nagar English Medium S.B. School in West Tripura district, were invited to Rashtrapati Bhavan for the special Raksha Bandhan celebration.
They were accompanied by teachers Biplab Kumar Deb and Biswajit Bhowmik, along with Abhijit Samajpati, Raksha Bandhan Nodal Officer and Officer on Special Duty (OSD) of the School Education Department.
During their interaction with the President, the students tied rakhis on President Murmu and extended their greetings. In a touching gesture, the President tied a rakhi on Meheresiya Sarkar, making the occasion particularly special for the young student.
The delegation presented the President with a handmade bamboo replica of the Mata Tripura Sundari Temple, along with handmade rakhis and greeting cards. The students also gifted her a traditional Risha and a pencil sketch of President Murmu drawn by Pralay De, a CWSN student from Udaipur.
President Murmu interacted warmly with the children and showed interest in learning about Tripura and its rich cultural traditions. She encouraged the students to perform a song, which they presented during the interaction. The President also appreciated the handmade rakhis and greeting cards prepared by the students.
Following the Raksha Bandhan celebration, the students and teachers participated in a guided tour of the historic Rashtrapati Bhavan complex. They visited the Banquet Hall, meeting halls and several other important sections of the presidential residence, including chambers associated with the swearing-in ceremonies of the Prime Minister and the Union Council of Ministers.
The delegation was also briefed about the history, architecture and heritage of Rashtrapati Bhavan and was taken around its renowned gardens.
The visit offered the young students a rare opportunity to experience the country’s highest constitutional institution while also providing them a platform to showcase Tripura’s rich cultural heritage before the President of India.
The Raksha Bandhan celebration with President Droupadi Murmu and the memorable tour of Rashtrapati Bhavan are expected to remain cherished experiences for the students and teachers, symbolising love, unity, cultural diversity and national togetherness. FD JK
