Tripura Signs MoU with IIM for Panchayat Training Boost

Agartala, May 3 (FD) In a move to further enhance the governance of Panchayati raj, Tripura on Saturday signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Shilong for collaboration to provide advanced training to the elected representative and Government officials.
Tripura Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha, who was present in the occasion, said that all the Panchayats in Tripura are disability friendly and the state has risen to the 7th position in the Devolution index in the country.
Delivering his address on the National Panchayat Day at the Gram Swaraj Bhavan he said, Tripura is now front runner in grassroots governance, which rose from 13th position to the 7th position in the central Government’s Panchayat Devolution index since 2015.
“We have set an example in terms of empowering Panchayat system and we have received seven National Panchayat awards in the last year. Action is always better than words. Our Prime Minister Narendra Modi always put a stress on the developments of the Panchayatiraj and says any improvement in rural level is crucial to the development of the country”, he said.
Chief Minister said, the state has established 44 new Panchayat Bhavans, eight Panchayat learning centres and four District Panchayat Resource centres in last two years. FD JK
