Agartala, Apr 1 (FD) A high-level delegation from Reliance, led by Awadhesh Singh, the business head of the Northeast region, visited Agartala on March 22 to discuss potential investments in Tripura. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha shared details of this meeting in the Assembly, responding to a public interest notice raised by MLA Kalyani Saha Roy.
The discussions focused on utilizing Tripura’s natural resources, including natural gas, bamboo, rubber, and medicinal plants, to boost economic growth. The state government has invited Reliance Jio to expand its IT and IT-enabled services under the Tripura Data Center Policy, 2021 and establish a BPO call center in Agartala. Additionally, Reliance Jio has been encouraged to collaborate with the Department of Information Technology to set up an Innovation and Incubation Park.
Given Reliance Industries' global expertise in energy production, the company has been invited to explore and extract 560 MMT of hydrocarbon resources in Tripura. The state government has also proposed setting up a urea fertilizer production unit.
Furthermore, Reliance has been urged to invest in bamboo processing, eco-tourism, wildlife conservation, rubberwood processing, and handicrafts. The Chief Minister expressed confidence that Reliance Group would take significant steps toward implementing these investment opportunities, driving Tripura’s industrial growth.
