Agartala, July 30 (FD) The Tripura government has submitted a proposal to the Centre seeking approval for projects worth Rs 322 crore to accelerate the socio-economic development of minority communities in the state, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said on Thursday.
Addressing a loan distribution programme organised by the Tripura Minority Cooperative Development Corporation Ltd. at Pragya Bhavan, the Chief Minister said the proposed projects were aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of minority communities across the state.
Reaffirming the government's commitment to inclusive development, Dr. Saha said people of every religion were equal stakeholders in Tripura's progress.
"Unity in diversity is the hallmark of our country and our state. Sustainable development is possible only when all communities move forward together," he said.
The Chief Minister said the state government was working to strengthen the confidence of minority communities through transparent governance and welfare-oriented initiatives. He also highlighted various programmes being implemented by the Central government under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for the welfare of minorities in areas such as education, healthcare, women's empowerment, financial inclusion and social security.
Emphasising the importance of education and women's empowerment, Dr. Saha said educating a daughter contributes to the progress of an entire family and society.
During the programme, the Chief Minister distributed loan cheques to beneficiaries from minority communities to support higher education and self-employment.
A total of 28 beneficiaries received loans amounting to Rs 64.93 lakh under schemes implemented by the Tripura Minority Cooperative Development Corporation Ltd.
Among those present were Minority Welfare Minister Shuklacharan Noatia, Chairman of the Tripura Minority Cooperative Development Corporation Mohammad Jasim Uddin, Chairman of the Tripura Waqf Board Mawswar Ali, Chairman of the Tripura State Haj Committee Shah Alam, former minister Billal Mia, and Special Secretary of the Minority Welfare Department Nirmal Adhikari.
