Briefing the media at the State Election Commission office in Agartala on Saturday, SEC Secretary Anurag Sen said around 6.65 lakh voters are expected to exercise their franchise in the elections.
Sen said 1,550 polling stations had initially been identified, but polling will now take place at 1,095 stations where contests are being held. Elaborate security arrangements have been made to ensure peaceful polling across the constituencies.
According to Sen, 74 companies of central armed forces have arrived in Tripura and are conducting area domination, patrolling and other security-related measures ahead of polling.
Around 7,300 polling personnel have been deployed for election duty. Sen said the personnel were checking election materials in their respective blocks, while their movement to designated polling stations would begin on Sunday morning under security cover.
Sector officers have been instructed to coordinate the movement of polling teams to their assigned stations, accompanied by security personnel from the police administration.
Polling teams will carry ballot boxes and ballot papers to the designated stations. After voting concludes on September 28 and all statutory sealing procedures are completed, election materials will be transported to designated receiving centres under the respective Returning Officers.
