Tripura Pradesh Congress launches ‘Tripura Bachao-Bharat Jodo Yatra’

Agartala, Nov 19 (FD) Along with the pan India program of ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ launched by All India Congress, the state unit of the party also launched the same- ‘Tripura Bachao-Bharat Jodo Yatra’ campaign on the occasion of the late Prime Minister Indira Gandhi’s birthday on November 19.
The Yatra led by All India Congress Committee (AICC) In-charge for Tripura, Dr Ajoy Kumar, Tripura Pradesh Congress president Brijit Sinha, MLA Sudip Roy Barman and other leaders commenced from Congress Bhawan here on Saturday morning.
The Yatra will cover about 1200 km distance throughout the state, sources in the party said.
Earlier in the morning, the party leaders hoisted the party flag in front of the party headquarters here and paid tribute to the late Prime Minister on her birth anniversary.
The party’s lone MLA Sudip Roy Barman while interacting with media mentioned several issues, which according to him is the fallout of BJP's misrule and said the journey is being undertaken to restore democracy and save the people of Tripura.
He said, “The march will help to save Tripura from the misrule of BJP which is important for restoring democratic rights of the people.”
The AICC Tripura In-Charge said that the people of Tripura are aggravated with violence conducted by Bike Bahini, crimes against women including rapes of minor girls , unemployment, increase of price in essential commodities and many more.
He appealed people of the state to join the march in large numbers to strengthen the voice against misrule. FD PD JK
