Tripura police unearth a chain of necklace snatching racket, arrest four persons

Agartala, Nov 15 (FD) Tripura police unearthed a racket of snatching necklace from the capital city and arrested four persons including two snatchers from different places on Monday, police official said.
The arrested persons were identified as, Amit Roy and Sagar Nama both hailed from North Ananda Nagar under Srinagar Police Station, Amaresh Chakraborty of Tarika Palli and Mintu Das of South Ramnagar under West Agartala Police Station.
Addressing a press conference, Sadar SDPO Ajay Kumar Das said, in the course of investigation of a gold necklace snatching case from Joynagar here police got a clue about the racket in the last week of September and finally unearthed the racket on Monday.
He said, Policemen from West Police Station led by Officer-in-charge, Investigating officer Abhijit Mandal, Sub-inspector Ranjit Das, Mamanullah Kaji from Ramnagar Outpost conducted the raid and arrested two gold chain snatchers- Roy and Nama, and two touts- Chakraborty and Das.
He said, Both Roy and Nama first snatched the gold ornaments from people and sell them to the touts for Rs 30,000 for each necklace. And later, Chakraborty and Das used to take loan by giving those ornaments to the Manager of Manapuram Gold Finance without any valid document.
The SDPO said that it is being investigated whether any other gang or person is involved in this incident. FD PD JK
