Tripura Police seize Rs. 4.5 crore worth of Yaba tablets

Agartala, Oct 14 (FD) In a major operation, Tripura Police successfully apprehended an individual and confiscated Yaba tablets valued at Rs. 4.50 crore in Bagbasa, situated in the North district of the state.
The Superintendent of Police for the North District, Bhanupada Chakraborty, addressing the media, revealed that following a credible tip-off, officers from Bagbasa police station, under the guidance of the Officer-in-Charge (OC), executed a comprehensive search operation late Friday night.
"During the operation, a 12-wheeler truck, registered as NL01L7106 and ostensibly carrying cement, was intercepted and subjected to inspection. It was during this search that the police uncovered a concealed compartment within the truck, where they discovered and seized 90,000 Yaba tablets," explained the SP.
The apprehended driver, identified as Debabrata Dey, is presently undergoing questioning. "The estimated worth of the contraband is approximately Rs. 4.50 crore. The arrested driver hails from Udaipur in the Gomati district, and legal proceedings have been initiated under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act," the SP informed the press.
