Agartala, April 23 (FD) After thunderstorms and torrential rains that lashed out across the state on Friday evening, left nearly 2500 houses damaged, a report of the State Emergency Operations Centre (SEOC) said on Saturday.
An official of the local Meteorological department said nearly 2461 houses were damaged by the thunder-storm including 32 fully damaged houses, 371 severely damaged and 2058 partly damaged houses.
Two relief camps were opened in Longtraivalley sub-division in Dhalai district in which 120 families with 534 people sheltered in the camps.
Though no relief camps were opened in Khowai district,
It is learnt that several power transmission lines were disrupted in large areas in Khowai district and Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) operators were found working to restore power in different areas including the Teliamura Sub-Divisional Magistrate's office in Chakmaghat.
According to reports, overall 7 districts and 12 sub-divisions were affected by the thunder-storms so far.
This includes 1105 houses damaged in Khowai district, 73 houses damaged in Teliamura sub-division of the same district.
These damages include one Anganwadi centre at Gourangatilla area in Teliamura and one school at Hawaibari, 842 houses were damaged in Longtraivalley sub-division in damages of public buildings.
There are no reports of casualty from the thunderstorms or damages induced by it so far.
Meanwhile, though there were storm squal warnings in different parts of Tripura today, Saturday passed uneventfully with a temperature reading ranging between 19.8 degree and 34.2 degree Celsius - a much needed respite from the sweltering heat of mercury between 36-39 degree celsius in last few days.
The weather predictions suggest Sunday might bring thunderstorm in few areas of the state with temperature between 31 and 33 degree Celsius
Meanwhile, on Saturday there was unusually with temperatures reading between 19.8 degrees and 34.2 degrees Celsius - a much-needed respite from the sweltering mercury hovering between 36-39 degrees Celsius in the past few days.
The weather forecast says thundershowers may occur in some parts of the state in the next 24 hours and the temperature will range between 24 and 35 degrees Celsius. FD PD
