Agartala, July 27 (FD) In a renewed effort to resolve the long-pending inter-state boundary dispute, senior administrative officials from Tripura and Mizoram will hold a high-level meeting in Agartala during the first week of August 2026.
The meeting has been convened following the initiative of Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and is expected to bring together key officials from both states to discuss a permanent and mutually acceptable resolution to the border issue.
According to official sources, the meeting will be attended by the Home Secretaries of Tripura and Mizoram, the Revenue Secretary of Tripura, the District Magistrate of North Tripura district, the Superintendent of Police concerned, and other senior civil and police officials from both states.
The proposed talks follow the positive discussions held between Chief Minister Manik Saha and his Mizoram counterpart on the side-lines of the recent North Eastern Council (NEC) meeting in Shillong, where both leaders agreed to take forward the dialogue on the border issue through sustained administrative engagement.
During the Agartala meeting, officials are expected to deliberate on key issues, including border demarcation, administrative coordination, maintenance of law and order, challenges faced by residents of the border areas, and other matters related to inter-state administration.
The Tripura government said the process of resolving the boundary issue has gained fresh momentum under the coordinated efforts of Chief Minister Manik Saha. Both state governments have reiterated their commitment to addressing the long-standing dispute through dialogue, mutual cooperation and goodwill, with the objective of arriving at a peaceful, permanent and broadly acceptable solution.
Apart from boundary-related matters, the meeting will also focus on strengthening administrative coordination along the inter-state border and expediting developmental initiatives in the region to improve the lives of people residing in frontier villages.
Officials expressed optimism that the high-level deliberations would lay the groundwork for a lasting settlement of the border dispute while enhancing peace, security and development in the border areas. They also believe the initiative will further strengthen cooperation and cordial relations between Tripura and Mizoram. FD JK
