Tripura Minister Santana Chakma Attends Brahmaputra Board Review Meeting in Guwahati

Agartala, May 19 (FD) Tripura Industries and Commerce Minister Santana Chakma participated in the 14th Meeting of the High Powered Review Board of the Brahmaputra Board held in Guwahati, where extensive discussions were held on river basin development, water resource management, and ecological sustainability across the northeastern region.
The high-level meeting was attended by Union Minister for Ports, Shipping and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal, Union Jal Shakti Minister C. R. Patil, and Minister of State for Jal Shakti Raj Bhushan Choudhary, along with representatives from various northeastern states.
Speaking after the meeting, Santana Chakma said the discussions centred on key developmental frameworks and strategic plans aimed at revitalizing and protecting river basins in Tripura and the wider northeastern region.
She stated that the Tripura government remains committed to accelerating major water resource projects while ensuring long-term ecological sustainability and balanced development.
“Our focus remains steadfast on accelerating vital water resource projects, enhancing ecological balance, and driving economic prosperity through sustainable river rejuvenation,” the minister said.
She further emphasized that integrated river management, scientific planning, and sustainable utilisation of natural resources are essential for strengthening agriculture, improving connectivity, and creating livelihood opportunities across the state. FD JK
