Tripura Minister Orders Probe into Food Quality Complaints at ST Girls' Hostel

Agartala, AugĀ 3 (FD) Tripura Tribal Welfare Minister Bikash Debbarma on Monday ordered a fair and transparent inquiry into alleged irregularities in the supply and quality of food at the Dr. B.R. Ambedkar Memorial Girls' Hostel in Agartala after conducting a surprise inspection.
The minister visited the hostel on Jagannath Bari Road following complaints from students and held interactions with residents to hear their grievances firsthand. He also sought detailed reports from the concerned authorities regarding the allegations.
Debbarma directed officials to conduct an impartial investigation into all aspects of the complaints and ensure prompt action based on the findings.
"Any negligence or irregularity affecting the rights, safety or welfare of students will not be tolerated. If the allegations are found to be true, strict action will be taken against those responsible in accordance with government rules," he said.
Following the inspection, the minister also visited the Bodhjung Street Boys' Hostel and the Women's College ST Girls' Hostel in Agartala to assess infrastructure, residential conditions, daily management and student welfare facilities.
He assured students that the government would take priority measures to improve hostel infrastructure and provide a safe, comfortable and dignified living environment.
Debbarma reiterated that student welfare remains a key priority of the state government, adding that investing in the well-being and education of young people is essential for building a skilled, confident and prosperous society. FD JK
